I was surprised to see that I was nominated by the beautiful Erin of Sexy Cardi for the Liebster Award.  This award is a great way to discover new blogs and get to know bloggers.  I am so thankful to Erin for nominating me.  I have been reading her blog since I started blogging a few months ago and have really enjoyed her variety of thoughtful posts.  Thank you Erin!

Erin’s Questions:

What is your favourite book?

I can’t say that I have an absolute favourite.  I like non fiction over fiction and am currently reading a book on Nikola Tesla, which is really good.  I think the best book that I’ve read recently is 30 Second Brain.  It’s like a science lesson all about the brain, but in terms that anyone can understand.

Name three of your dream destinations.

I live in the US and have only been out of the country once (to France.)  So there are many places I’d love to see.  But if I had to narrow them down to just three I would say:

1. The Almafi Coast - It seems so beautiful there and I love seafood.  
2. Venice Italy - I’ve always wanted to ride on a gondola. 
3. Angkor Wat, a temple in Cambodia that I have always wanted to visit.

What is one thing you're looking forward to in the upcoming season?

The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade - I’m hoping to go to NYC and watch it in person this year.

Do you have a blog post you're particularly proud of?

I really like how the pictures turned out in my Rust and Ankle Boots post.  I take all of my own pictures so it’s sometimes hard to produce what I visualize in my head.  I’m getting a new camera in a few weeks so my pictures will have better quality soon.

Is there any one type of clothing you buy and collect a lot of? For example, socks, striped t-shirts, flip flops, etc.

I collect a lot of clothing pieces of every kind.  Though I do seem to have more jackets and shoes than any other items.  I love unique vintage pieces and am always on the look out for something different.

  

When it comes to post photos, do you need them all to be perfect in order to post them? Or can you deal with the occasional imperfect photo once in awhile?

I would love for them to all be in perfect order, but then I would never post anything, haha.  None of the pictures ever come out the way I have them in my head.  So I make them as best as I can and then post.

If you could use only one makeup product for the rest of your life, what would you choose?

Eyeliner.  I mainly just use eye shadow, eyeliner, and mascara daily.  I think I would feel bare without the liner.

Coffee, tea, or hot chocolate?

Coffee - I need two small cups in the morning or I’m totally lost.

Is there a food that you don't like but wish you did?

Pork belly - It always looks so good, but I just don’t like the texture and sometimes the flavor.

Do you enjoy decorating for holidays and seasons? Or do you hate doing it?
I love decorating for the seasons!  It’s one of the things I really look forward to.

Turtleneck + Strapless Dress

I was never a huge fan of the turtleneck under a dress trend until I put these two together.  I think it is the thin silky texture of the turtleneck paired with the embossed texture of the dress that really makes this outfit work.  I paired this with a vintage necklace that was my grandmother's and some old strappy Manolos.

Dancing in Velvet

I recently found these great vintage velvet trousers online.  I just love the gold birds on them and how they look very 70's.  I decided to pair them with a light weight black ruffled sweater and black velvet blazer.

When shooting these pics I find myself always posing the same way.  So in this shoot I tried something different - dancing!  Only one picture (the following) came out decent and not too blurry. Though next time I'll try either a static pose or find a camera that captures movement better.

Belted Mini and Lace Top

I just love this belted skirt for a casual look.  It's made of a heavy jean material, which is great for the months to come.  I paired it with a white top with lace detail and sandals since it's still quite warm today.  I just love the detail in this top which I found a few years ago in a vintage shop.   These pearl earrings were my grandmother's and are clip on, which is all I've been wearing at the moment.  I guess that's just because I'm addicted to vintage pieces.  To me they seem to have a certain chic and classy feel.

These sandals are a bit wild for this outfit, but I love them since they are tall wedges which for me equals much needed height and they are easy to walk in.

Light Through the Leaves

I love how the light shines through the leaves of the trees in the first three of these photos.  At first I was going to discard them, but I love the feeling that comes through when they are seen all together.  It reminds me of 1970's photos of my mom.  The last two photos I actually altered to match the first three.  I just love the vintage vibe.

Pink and Black

Pink and black is one of my favorite colour combinations.  It's the perfect mix of light and dark, or in this case summer meeting winter.  The watch here was my great grandmother's and I just love the rope band on it, even though it is quite fragile.  I can just imagine her wearing it.  The earrings were my grandmother's and are clip on.  She used to wear them with comfortable printed dresses and pearls.

Black and White for Rain or Shine.

When I left this morning it was quite damp and chilly so I thought this black and white outfit would be a bit cheery.  Then thankfully the sun finally popped out by the time I returned home so I figured I'd take more pictures.

I've had this polka dot button down forever - I love that it's slightly sheer, but not too see through. I'm also thinking about purchasing this one here.  The bag is vintage White House Black Market that I dug out of the bottom of a sale bin years ago.  It's canvas so it's perfect for rainy days.  The skirt is vintage as well, similar one here.  The boots are Ferragamo on sale here.

Rust and Ankle Boots.

I just love this rust colour for the fall.  This top is very vintage 70's and found it among some old things I was going to toss out.  I think it works great with the dark brown leather skirt and black accessories.  This last picture was taken accidentally, but I love how it looks like I'm twirling.

This ring is one of my favourite pieces.  I love how it opens up into a heart.  My mother gave it to me before she passed.  I try to wear it often as it reminds me of her, and that love is eternal :)

Florals for Fall

I found this sweater at a vintage shop the other day and I thought it was the perfect transitional piece into fall.  I just love the floral design.  I paired this with a simple beige outfit.  The sleeveless top is from Jcrew and the skirt is from Old Navy.  I love how the shoes (Kate Spade) compliment the purple flowers.
