I just love dressing up for the holidays. Today I'm wearing a cocktail party outfit with a colourful sequin top and bright pink skirt. The top was given to me by a friend years ago, and it's embellished with fun geometric shaped sequins in all different colours. I decided to pair it with a pink midi skirt which I think matches the sequins quite well even though it's not exactly a winter holiday colour. What do you think?

Holiday Dressing
I’ve just returned from a crazy Thanksgiving holiday and these are some pictures I took just before I left. My original plans of flying to NYC and watching the parade were changed. Instead I spent time with my family and drove 13 hours to see everyone. I drove so I could take my little dog who had been sick the past week. I didn’t want to leave her in kennel not knowing how she would feel. The trip was crazy, but well worth it!

Grey Layers
I love experimenting with unique layers. This grey sleeveless cropped turtleneck is a vintage piece that is actually quite thick and heavy. I figured it would be perfect for layering especially during these semi-cold months. I'm wearing it over a grey silk blouse and paired it with a beige suede skirt and mary janes.
Sleeveless Sweater: Vintage Valentino, Similar Here, Also Love this One. Blouse: Ann Taylor, Similar Here.
Skirt: Vintage, Similar Here. Shoes: Manolo.

How to Belt a Scarf
One of my favorite trends is belting a scarf. Here I paired a printed scarf with neutral basics - my go-to turtleneck and a vintage suede skirt. Then I just belted it with a skinny gold belt, which I knotted a the end since it is a bit long.
Scarf: Etro (old) Similar Here. Also love this one from Zara. Belt: Ann Taylor (old) Similar Here. Suede Skirt: Vintage Turtleneck: Intimissimi.

Thankful for the Basics
After my last post the entire state that I live in here in the US flooded. We had no water at all and no electricity for a couple days. Sadly, many people lost their entire homes, and some lost many of their belongings including their memories. My heart goes out to all those who suffered loss. I was very fortunate in that only my garage and little storage room flooded. Everything else was fine. Once power and water was restored, the water was still undrinkable -this is the colour of the water once it was restored.
The State said we had to boil it before drinking and washing dishes. Though they did say we could use it to wash clothing, but since it stained my tub I figured it would probably stain clothing as well.
So during the first few days I mainly wore pajamas, but once the sun shined down and the stores were again open I wore the basics - Jeans and T-shirts. Though yesterday I wore a fun pair of shoes since the roads were again dry.
Finally today we were told that our water was again clean. Though many still have much more to deal with than just dirty water, and my heart goes out to these people. It is amazing what I’ve taken for granted in my life and this is just a reality check to be thankful everyday for everything; even if it’s something as basic as having clean water.

Liebster Award
I was surprised to see that I was nominated by the beautiful Erin of Sexy Cardi for the Liebster Award. This award is a great way to discover new blogs and get to know bloggers. I am so thankful to Erin for nominating me. I have been reading her blog since I started blogging a few months ago and have really enjoyed her variety of thoughtful posts. Thank you Erin!
The Rules:
- Once nominated, make a post thanking and linking the lovely person who nominated you.
- Include the Liebster Award sticker (like the one above) in your post.
- Nominate other new bloggers with less than two-hundred followers who you think are worthy of this award & let them know they have been nominated. (P.S you may nominate the person who nominated you.)
- Answer the questions asked by the person who nominated you and then make ten questions of your own for your nominees.
Erin’s Questions:
What is one thing you're looking forward to in the upcoming season?
What is your favourite book?
I can’t say that I have an absolute favourite. I like non fiction over fiction and am currently reading a book on Nikola Tesla, which is really good. I think the best book that I’ve read recently is 30 Second Brain. It’s like a science lesson all about the brain, but in terms that anyone can understand.
Name three of your dream destinations.
I live in the US and have only been out of the country once (to France.) So there are many places I’d love to see. But if I had to narrow them down to just three I would say:
- The Almafi Coast - It seems so beautiful there and I love seafood.
- Venice Italy - I’ve always wanted to ride on a gondola.
- Angkor Wat, a temple in Cambodia that I have always wanted to visit.
What is one thing you're looking forward to in the upcoming season?
The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade - I’m hoping to go to NYC and watch it in person this year.
Do you have a blog post you're particularly proud of?
I really like how the pictures turned out in my Rust and Ankle Boots post. I take all of my own pictures so it’s sometimes hard to produce what I visualize in my head. I’m getting a new camera in a few weeks so my pictures will have better quality soon.
Is there any one type of clothing you buy and collect a lot of? For example, socks, striped t-shirts, flip flops, etc.
I collect a lot of clothing pieces of every kind. Though I do seem to have more jackets and shoes than any other items. I love unique vintage pieces and am always on the look out for something different.
When it comes to post photos, do you need them all to be perfect in order to post them? Or can you deal with the occasional imperfect photo once in awhile?
I would love for them to all be in perfect order, but then I would never post anything, haha. None of the pictures ever come out the way I have them in my head. So I make them as best as I can and then post.
If you could use only one makeup product for the rest of your life, what would you choose?
Eyeliner. I mainly just use eye shadow, eyeliner, and mascara daily. I think I would feel bare without the liner.
Coffee, tea, or hot chocolate?
Coffee - I need two small cups in the morning or I’m totally lost.
Is there a food that you don't like but wish you did?
Pork belly - It always looks so good, but I just don’t like the texture and sometimes the flavor.
Do you enjoy decorating for holidays and seasons? Or do you hate doing it?
I love decorating for the seasons! It’s one of the things I really look forward to.
I love decorating for the seasons! It’s one of the things I really look forward to.
My Questions:
- What made you decide to start a blog?
- Do you have a favourite perfume?
- Wine? Bubbles? or Cocktails?
- In three words or less, how would you describe your style?
- If you had a super power, what would it be?
- What is your favourite colour and why?
- If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be?
- What is your dream job?
- Do you have a favourite fashion designer?
- If you could fix anything in the world and make it better, what would it be?
My Nominations:
I’ve nominated the following two blogs which I’ve recently started reading and really enjoy:
Chanel (Sonia) of Je M'appelle Chanel
Veronik of Pancakes in Bed
**If I've nominated you and award tag posts aren't your thing, don't worry about it! However, if I haven't tagged you and you want to answer my questions, please feel free to do so.**

Turtleneck + Strapless Dress
I was never a huge fan of the turtleneck under a dress trend until I put these two together. I think it is the thin silky texture of the turtleneck paired with the embossed texture of the dress that really makes this outfit work. I paired this with a vintage necklace that was my grandmother's and some old strappy Manolos.
Dress: Asos (old.) Turtleneck: Intimissimi.
Have you ever worn a turtleneck under a dress? Do you think this combination works?

Dancing in Velvet
I recently found these great vintage velvet trousers online. I just love the gold birds on them and how they look very 70's. I decided to pair them with a light weight black ruffled sweater and black velvet blazer.
When shooting these pics I find myself always posing the same way. So in this shoot I tried something different - dancing! Only one picture (the following) came out decent and not too blurry. Though next time I'll try either a static pose or find a camera that captures movement better.
Pants: Roberto Cavalli, Similar here at Zara. Blazer: Laundry by Shelli Segal (old), Similar Here.
Sweater: no label vintage
