How to Style a Choker

Here are two easy ways to style a simple black choker.

I'm loving the choker trend and wanted to share my two favourite ways to style it. For the first outfit I paired my black velvet choker with a striped sleeveless top, black lightweight suede look pants, blue fishnet socks and black mary janes. This is a fun casual, yet classy look. The second outfit is dressier and perfect for going out. I paired the choker with a silk t-shirt, ruffled skirt, novelty bag, and nude rockstud heels. What do you think of these outfits? Spring Florals and Ladybug Pins

Today I wore a cheery Spring floral outfit to try to change the bad luck I’ve been having lately.

…and it did! The weather was beautiful, and I finally got out for my birthday dinner. Plus my sweet sister sent me this amazing Pegasus pool float that I’ve wanted forever. I didn’t expect any gifts as we usually exchange simple food items. So I was really shocked and delighted to receive this. I’ll put it in a post once I figure out how to blow it up…it’s about 8 ft long. As for my outfit I paired this Spring floral skirt with bright yellow for a happy energy vibe. For extra luck I added two ladybug pins and one of my grandmother’s floral pins. What do you think of this outfit? Have you ever dressed up just to change your luck and bring in good energy? How to Style a Print Skirt

This floral print skirt is one of the day to night pieces that I packed for Spring break.

What to Wear for Easter Brunch

Easter is this Sunday and I wanted to share some outfit ideas to wear for an Easter brunch.

The above photo is actually from Easter 2013 when it was very warm and sunny. This year however Easter Sunday is predicted to be cold and rainy. So with the crazy weather we’ve been having I figured I’d show Easter brunch outfit ideas for different weather situations. I'm not actually sure what we will be doing this year since Easter is so early and my birthday is on Monday, but I hope to at least eat lots of good food (that I don't cook.) How to Wear a Skirt Over a Skirt

Today I’m wearing a pink full skirt on top of a blue flowy skirt. 

As I was shopping my closet in search of something "new" to wear for Easter, I decided to try something radical by placing a skirt on top of another skirt. I’ve seen the trend with the skirt over the pants before, but never really found a combination that looked decent on me. So I was very surprised that the skirt over the skirt looked (in my opinion) amazing! The base outfit is a simple two piece sleeveless set in serenity blue which is pictured towards the bottom of this post, and I simply added a full pink skirt on top of this set. What do you think of this look? Would you ever wear a skirt over a skirt? Have you tried the skirt over pants trend?

How to Wear a Spring Scarf

For the first day of Spring I added colour to this  monochrome outfit by wearing a Spring hued scarf.

I also added a blue crossbody, which to my surprise matched the scarf perfectly. This scarf was my grandmothers. She had several colourful scarfs that she would wear to match her outfits. I’ve held on to most of them and am excited to see that they are back in style. This is a small square scarf that I rolled like a bandana and then wrapped it around my neck and tied it at the end. Green Ruffles for St. Patrick’s Day

I originally planned to wear a green sweater and skirt outfit for St. Patrick's day, but the weather has been so warm I had to find something more appropriate. So I pulled out this green ruffle top that I’ve had for years and paired it with white shorts and white sunglasses. What do you think of this outfit? Do you have any fun plans for St. Patrick’s Day?

How to Style a Printed Dress for Day and Night

A simple change of shoes takes this printed dress outfit from day to night.

Here I’m wearing the dress I packed for Palm Beach. It’s a light weight flowy dress which can be styled easily for both daytime shopping and nighttime dinner and drinks. To start I cinched the waist with a black belt and then added a black crossbody bag. For the daytime outfit I added black and white flatforms and for the nighttime look I simply changed the shoes to rockstud heels. It’s the easiest outfit transition ever! Matchy Matchy Blue

The decor matches my outfit exactly.

Today we arrived in Palm Beach and as soon as we got into our hotel room I realized that my outfit matched the decor, especially the bathroom. Now we’ve stayed here a ton of times before, but they recently renovated and re decorated all the rooms. I had no idea it would be blue and did not plan this at all. The hotel I’m in is the “Eau Palm Beach,” which use to be the Ritz a few years ago. Even when it changed names the decor never changed. But I am happily surprised since I love all things matchy matchy. Have you ever worn an outfit and suddenly realized you matched your surroundings? Do like things to be matchy matchy? What to Pack for Spring Break

It’s spring break time and I’m packing for my trip.

I'm heading to Palm Beach, Fl for a last minute Spring vacation and I thought I’d share my tips on what to pack. I only take one carryon bag which means packing light. This can be quite difficult, but I've come up with a packing plan.

Are Skinny Jeans Bad for your Health?

For someone who used to not like jeans, I find myself wearing them more and more. I've read several articles that state skinny jeans are out style and that they are even bad for your health. Apparently if they are too tight they can cause nerve and muscle damage! Who knew?? The skinny jeans in this outfit are so comfortable I feel like I’m wearing yoga pants. It’s mainly because they have a bit of stretch to them. So I'm hoping they're not going to cut off my circulation anytime soon. To complete this outfit I added a camel coloured turtleneck, a white fur vest, and a colourful tooled leather purse that I picked up at Epcot in FL years ago. I think it gives this outfit a slight 70’s vibe. What do you think? Do you like wearing skinny jeans? Do you think they are bad for your health?

Hat Day

It’s not often that I wear a hat.

When I do it’s usually because it’s raining, windy, or my hair is just not cooperating. Today is no exception. It’s windy and my hair decided to frizz this morning. So instead of fighting it I planned my outfit around this hat. I decided to pair it with a brown blazer with ruffle trim, a black sweater, jeans, and black boots. To my surprise it came out quite nice. What do you think of this outfit? Do you ever have days when you feel like you just need to wear a hat?

Lavender and Blue Jeans

Believe it or not there was a time when I would never wear an outfit like this.

My entire wardrobe consisted of almost all black pieces, no light colours, and hardly any jeans. That’s when I was working in NYC. Then I moved to the south, got married, and everything changed, including my wardrobe. It is now full of colour, texture, and happy memories. These jeans are very vintage Levis that I used to wear when my husband and I were first dating (over 10 yrs ago.) I pulled them out today and was excited to see that they still fit. I paired them with a white turtleneck, a lavander mohair cardigan last seen here, and my favourite gold glitter mary janes.

Casual Metallics

As a maximalist at heart I would wear ruffles, fur, and metallics everyday if I could.

But for my husband’s sake, and since I'm usually running errands and going to the grocery store, I try to tone it down a bit. So for todays outfit I took two shiny metallic pieces, a silver metallic circle cardigan and a metallic chain trimmed clutch, and toned them down by pairing them with cuffed jeans and a simple white turtleneck. What do you think of this casual metallic look? Are you more of a maximalist or minimalist when it comes to style?
